Oceania Announcement
Message from Phil Pryde, President of NZRYA
I can confirm on behalf of the NZRYA the IOM Oceania has our full endorsement and we are happy to announce the IOM Oceania championship as presented.
NZRYA would at this point like to thank all those who put in the time and effort to get this exciting event from the initial concept to the reality, there are many both Australian and New Zealanders who worked on this (these) regattas, it’s a credit to our mutual trust and co-operation.
Yes, there is work to be done to ensure two world class regattas in the Beautiful South Island, but we are confident in the team PRSC has gathered, we are excited by the location and the social facilities it offers for a truly memorable 11 days (or so) so please accept both the thanks and approval from the NZRYA
Kind Regards
Philip Pryde NZRYA
And from Sean Wallis
Hi All
The memorandum of understanding has now been signed by both the ARYA & NZRYA and planning for the IOM Oceania Championship 2020 is progressing well
There has been one significant change to the planning of the event with the primary goal of incorporating both the NZL IOM Championship (as a pre-event) with the IOM Oceania Championship. To achieve this and due to availability of the facility it has required a minor change to the dates of the event. I am pleased to confirm that the revised dates are now 02 – 05 December 2020, with the NZL Championship being held 27-29 November.
[Note from Paul J: these are the racing days. NZ Nats have 26th Nov as a pre-race day, and Oceania has 30th Nov and 1st Dec as Pre-Race days]
We are still requiring final acceptance from IOMICA in relation to the naming of the event as IOM Oceania Championship.
A significant amount of work has taken place including the production of our website which will be launched alongside our media release.
Thanks
Sean Wallis
