Summer Medal Day 2 – 27th February 2022
RO’s Report for Summer Medal Day 2 – 27 February 2022
We had a relaxed day for 21 yachts on the lake enjoying the change of pace after the challenging IOM Club Championship Day the previous weekend. An ‘old salt’ was heard to say ‘it is the most fun he’s had in ages’!Sailors from the IOM and D95 fleets rubbed shoulders and enjoyed the friendly competition. It is obvious that the standard of sailing in both classes has continued to improve.I believe the variety of sailing during the week and weekends plus the desire to learn and develop is showing in the results. Having new sailors with experience joining us is helping us reach new standards and it will be exciting to see how we fare in future inter club regattas.A light and shifty morning Southerly made for challenging racing with plenty of passing lanes. A fresher southeasterly put the fleets through their paces for the last couple of races.Congrats to Darryl (DF 95 # 79) for an outstanding set of 12 wins. Welcome to new members Robyn (DF 95 # 113) and Callum (DF 95 # 195) and guest Jessica Rose (DF 95 # 98).The IOMs shared wins through the day and once again took it down to the wire for the overall placings. Rick CB (NZL 92) and Clyde (NZL 03) took out 1st and 2nd only 1.5 points apart. Chris (NZL 29) came in 3rd.Thanks to Peter H for starting the races and recording results for each class separately, all with witty banter!Ric CB
