As always seems the case at Pegasus Lake these days . Light or very little wind till after lunch . We started with a couple of practice races with the course set for the NE breeze . Then the wind came up a bit and we got in 4 one lap races before lunch .
My lunch hour was taken up with resetting the course for the changed straight Easterly wind .
So it was all on after lunch . 5 min warning . Most boats in the water . So I hit the start button . Not the best sight seeing old guys running . Right now I have you all here . Change of course as you can see . In the past …Every time without fail someone will ask what the course was again . They never got a chance as I called it out 3 times . And 2 laps .
Lucky enough the wind stayed easterly and was not too bad of a course in the end for a fun day .
Only problem being boats finishing around the gate and boats on the course . So every time I yelled remember the rules . Port / Starboard , up wind / down wind …. And it seemed to work as very few crashes .
We were able to get in 15 races with most being 2 laps . I was going to keep going till Garth 186 got a win. Lucky for everyone this only took the 15 races .
It was dam hard to give handicaps with the 2 types of yachts . I think it was not to bad in the end with Darryl 79 being told to start well behind the pack of DF95s . One race, when the bell went there was no one near the line . Crazy . Come on you 95 guys …. wake up i yelled out . The longer the day went the more Darryl 79 got handicapped . Mark 52 was starting back with him and after a couple of Disappointing lasts , he was let back into the DF95 pack .
The IOM boys were pretty even but I asked Ric 92 to start 1 boat behind the others . In most cases he was able to get the inside line and still win or be the first IOM .
Nigel Sibun form Auckland ( staying with me ) was a visitor with both DF95 and his Kantun 2 IOM . Winning races with both boats . He was involved in A rule infringement decision that went on a bit too long . As RO for the day ….I took it upon myself to let him know he was a visitor and so he was put into a head lock and given a dead leg .
Seemed to do the trick as we all retired as good friends to the Good Home for a well earned beer .
Thanks Pete 125 for picking up the trailer and Darryl 79 for doing the results on his phone app for me.
Cheers Tex
