Paul, Sheila, Peter R, David W, young Eric and Gary J made a Dream Team to cope with today’s tricky Handicap day, setting and changing courses, adjusting the Division timing, recording places on paper and in the tablet, communicating with skippers and plenty more. Thanks all.
David and Peter were first timers in Rata yet Achieved with Excellence laying buoys and rescuing yachts. They cruised in attendance all day like a professional boat crew.
And full marks to the skippers too, for coping with all that the day threw at them. Gusts, shifts, changes of course, rapid fire races, collisions, gear breakage and failure, and more.
Rick CB took out Gold and the Blue Division Medals, Gary Tex showed how fast IOM 15 can be for Silver and the Green Division Medals and Bruce won the Bronze Medal. Terry won the Red Division Medal with his DF95.
New yachts on the block included John Noble IOM 21 and Phil Waynard IOM 84 with Barry Briggs and his DF95
The Shock Horror moment has to go to poor Rick P when IOM 17 suddenly flipped over, minus its lead bulb which is now in the murky depths of the lake bed.
A resilience award goes to Rick CB for remaining calm after loosing his jib, recovering IOM 123, cycling home and riding back with his sail box to change to a B rig and only miss one race. (And single handed at that 😕 ?)
