10.30 am Sunday 16th Feb 2020 and all sailors were welcomed by a very gentle breeze from the North – the DF 95 group of 5 were well pleased.
We sailed on the one course with two separate starts, the start guns for the two classes were one minute apart and this seemed a setup approved by all.
Rick CB and energy bunny son, Eric did a wonderful job of shifting the course as the A rig breeze swung all over the lake. Five races were held before lunch.
The DF 95s had 4 races after lunch until the Northerly came in at forecast strength.
The IOMs carried on with a solid B rig breeze and completed a total of 8 races in the afternoon.
The DF 95 medal winners were
1st. with 17 points number 30 Lloyd Harman
2nd with 25 52 Mark Laird
3rd with 30 16 Gerry Kirk
The IOM results
1st 34 points 02 Keith May
2nd 40 92 Rick CB
3rd. 47 221 Ron Bedyn
Some comments heard ….gosh those 95s are pretty quick in the light…..the start you know its pretty important…….Starboard ..I,m on starboard…so am I…….they were both going upwind and one was definitely not on starboard!!….Im just ahead….i reckon…..ohhhh no,sorry…I,ll do the penalty.
A great day of club sailing with two classes together, unfortunately ending with our first sinking …Petes IOM Red Dragon is spending the night on the bottom of Lake Pegasus…..hopefully will be found tomorrow?
