Sunday Sailing – Handicap Series Day 3 – 20 September 2020
Eleven skippers turned out for a bright and sunny Pegasus day. The morning session skippers enjoyed an A rig wind from just north of east. Which is just as well because a team of experts led energetically by Tex spent the first half hour or so choosing from a pile of poles to erect the new white 6 m x 3m gazebo. They eventually had it up and Tex took pride and place in the expansive shelter to set his yacht up.
Rick CB led the day brilliantly and set a one lap course for the four divisions to race round. He got the handicaps pretty much spot on for a tight finish most races. Congrats to Mark for his consistent speed to hold off the chasers.
During lunch a brisk North Easterly came up to warrant a change to B rig for the IOMers who had one with them… and, a quick pack up of the gazebo before it took off to Woodend.
The six IOMs had a series of one lap races. Tex and Colin had to stay in A rig and Colin became increasingly chuffed that his Flyer often lived up to its design by lifting its bow in gusts and taking off downwind.
