Race Officer’s Report
The day started off with little to no wind in the morning. Only two races for each class could be completed before going to an early lunch. We were rewarded with a nice north east breeze rising during lunch. A new course was laid and we resumed for the afternoon with some good racing. Another 8 races were completed. It was noted that today’s skippers preferred back to back races for IOMs then DF 95s and so on. This gave the resting skippers enough time to fiddle with settings, etc and get back into racing, rather than sitting out two races for the other class.
All competitors raced in a sporting manner and enjoyed themselves. Sincere thanks to David W for his assistance in setting up the foreshore and recording the race results accurately. Also, thanks to Keith who was beset with winch problems from the get go and gave his time up to manning Rata and supporting everyone.
Congratulations to Darryl (DF 79) for overall first in the DF95s and to Clyde (NZL 03) for pulling off the IOM win against strong opposition.
